Healthy Skin During the Holidays

“Oh, you look tired!” What woman hasn’t heard these words at some point during the hectic holiday season? And as soon as the well-meaning observer has left, we race for a mirror to verify just how tired our face really is.

More often than not, it’s worse than we’d thought. “I swore my eyes weren’t this puffy when I left the house.” “Is that leftover lipstick or is my mouth actually so chapped it’s bleeding?” With the holidays just around the corner, we will be right back in the swing of things before we know it. Do we really want to spend another year running around toting eye bags larger than our shopping bags?

In less than a week, we will be in the thick of it. How will we keep ourselves looking as bright and shiny on the outside as we feel on the inside this time of year? As the days tick down to Thanksgiving and the holiday rush that follows, just remember these five simple tips to keep you looking energized and ready to jingle all the way to January.

Beauty really does start on the inside…

and as such, you have to hydrate. Water, water, water - every morning, throughout the day, and definitely another good dose before bed to make sure you are getting your recommended intake. For an extra boost, grab some elderberry packs to add to your glass. This is especially helpful if you are indulging in a few festive cocktails the night before.

But the outside needs some help, too…

and nothing says “tired” like dry, flaky skin. You can try to mask your exhaustion with foundation and blush, but unfortunately, makeup does not apply well if your skin is void of moisture. Make sure you are using a good night creme and exfoliating weekly to create a workable canvas for your holiday look. Your lips need extra attention this season, too, so try the avocado oil hydrator to keep them mistletoe-ready.

And don’t forget, it’s all in the eyes…

because they are the window to your very tired soul. This is where we need some real magic this season! Keep your allure all winter long by staying dedicated to an eye cream or gel. Suffering from puffy, swollen eyes? Use the aloe cucumber eye gel. Dark circles for days? The yogurt kale under eye cream might just be your new best friend.

Now, if we could just keep that glow all day…

You’ve hydrated from the inside and out and made sure to perk up those sleepy eyes. All that’s left is some maintenance to keep you looking your best from early morning until you are nestled all snug in your bed. Keep it simple and snag yourself a bottle of Sorella’s watermelon mint hydrating mist. Then, anytime you need a pick me up, spritz that fading face to bring it back to life.
